The TIRITAMM publishing house, established in Oct. 1, 1991 as a legal successor to the children’s literature department of the former publishing house Eesti Raamat (Estonian Book), specializes on publishing literature for children and young adults.
Our priority is to publish works of value only, both originals and translations. The TIRITAMM backlist include works by Estonian classics of children’s literature as well as contemporary top-class authors like, Ellen Niit (IBBY Honour List), Aino Pervik (the annual award of Estonian literature), Eno Raud (IBBY Honour List).
Several high-level works of newcomers also have reached the reader through our publishing house.
The largest part of our production is made up by translations: the world classic literature, as well as works by contemporary top authors, like J. R. R. Tolkien, Tove Jansson, Astrid Lindgren, Hannu Mäkelä, Marie Gripe, Terry Pratchett, Ottfried Preussler, Philip Pullman, Neil Gaiman, Michael Ende etc.
As illustrators, TIRITAMM has used both Estonian and foreign high-class book designers and also the works of younger Estonian book designers. Thanks to their contribution, TIRITAMM books are always beautifully and tastefully designed, and have won acknowledgement.
